Paramore- That’s what you get
Filming dates –
Monday 13th February – all day 11am start: order of filming TBA
Max will be playing the instrument shots in my video; his face is unlikely to be featured in the shots.
Wednesday 15th February- start filming at 7.15 am because the sun is estimated to rise at 7.25am that day and continue filming until the sun has risen a substantial amount.
Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February – approximately 3 hours each day of filming; Friday will be 8.30pm till 9.30pm because the shots will be filmed at night so the darkness is natural. Saturday filming is from 3pm-5pm and Sunday will be filmed from 12pm until I have all of the footage that I need.
Alyssa is the main actor in my video; she will be playing the role of lead singer
During the intro of the song there is a series of fast pace shots; some of the shots include a sped up sunrise, the main characters hair in the wind, a tracking shot of a long graffiti wall, a girl with heavy eye makeup blinking, ocean waves hitting the shore and a few other things. Then as the first verse begins we see the main character/singer miming the words in time to the song; within this time frame she is seen in several locations and positions. Glass bottles are opened and drunk throughout the video and towards the end of the song these get smashed to convey the emotions of the lyrics. The overall theme of the video is to show that the main character is alone; the lyrics imply this is due to a breakup. As the chorus and second verse are introduced the video becomes a more destructive and angry spectacle with the smashing bottles, drum being hit and the burning bridge. The ending of the video is the main character looking out of breath after her outburst of emotion, this is followed by her looking defeated and turning and walking away as the music fades.
Opening sped up scenes: hair blowing in the wind, glass bottles, sky, glitter in slow motion, trees, lights, etc.
Hills and fields– farmers land in Emersons Green, Bristol; Alyssa is required for this shot.
Establishing shots of the landscape, the sun rises but is sped up so that the shot is only a flash, this will be a long shot so that I can see the path of the sun. Alyssa will be miming in this location and distant shots of her frolicking.
Graffiti Street – A tracking shot along the graffiti wall on Nelson Street, Bristol; this again needs actor’s feet to shoot walking down the street.
Long shot so that the entire wall is included in the frame, this will also be sped up and the colours will become a slight blur because of the fast movement.
Front room– This will be shot in a house, Alyssa will be in the shots and they will be scattered throughout the video.
Close up and medium shots of Alyssa singing to the camera from different angles and different lighting styles.
Garage– Shots that include the drums and guitar being played, quite dark with a grungy atmosphere, Max is going to play the instruments. These shots will be shown when there is a noticeable exaggerated instrumental noise
Unrecognisable location– a neutral area where the glass bottles will be filmed smashing and played in slow motion to exaggerate the shot. This is also where I might shoot the bridge burning.
Potential other ideas –
- Maybe have some other people included in the video, possibly also miming to the song
- Include some point of view shots.
- Some shots will be sped up to feature everything in the shot; graffiti.
- The glass bottles smashing and the bridge burning in slow motion so that it looks affective and so that the viewer is able to see what’s happening in detail.
Locations List –
- Nelson Street in Bristol daytime other people around and graffiti on the walls.
- Fields around Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
- Bedroom, Alyssa’s- neutral and plain, no clutter.
- My garage for the shots of the drums and guitar, Max is needed.
